Aim of the Game
The aim of the game is to follow the verbal instructions of the leader’s instructions, basically, it is “Do what I say and not do what I do“!
Listen very carefully and don’t let false moves trick you.
Age Ranges and Group Sizes
This game is suitable for most ages, stretching from children up to adults. It’s probably best suitable for 6+ years in order to gauge a better understanding and in turn gain more from the activity, but similar versions can be used for children of a younger age. Just be careful that the energy doesn’t get out of control!
The size of the group can be adjustable, but it works best with not too many and not too few participants. Groups of around 8 to 10 offer a good even level.
Rules can be modified however if you have less players just circle the action around between each other one extra time. Vice versa, if there are too many players, get some people to sit at the side and everyone can take a turn of watching and playing. Swap in and out fairly.
Preparations and Needed Materials
Really all that is required for this game is yourself and your teammates.
To play the game, make sure you explain the rules beforehand. Make sure you’re audible and clear to avoid confusion (any more than intended).
How to Play the Play Frog In The Pond Game
So, here’s how it’s done.
Step 1: Get the group to sit in a circle. Start off close together then spread out giving everybody their own bubble of space.
Step 2: Choose a person (the leader) to start. Everybody should listen to what the leader says.
The leader says – “Frog in the pond” and puts both hands down on the grown.
The leader says – “Frog in the bank” and puts hands on the shoulders.
The leader says – “Frog in the tree” and puts hands on the head.
The leader says – “Frog in the space” and raises hands in the sky.
Now, here comes the most important part – the leader should try to trick other players by saying one line and doing the false move.
For example:
The leader says – “Frog in the pond” and puts both hands down on the grown (Correct combination). Everybody repeats.
The leader says – “Frog in the bank” and puts hands on the shoulders (Correct combination). Everybody repeats.
The leader says – “Frog in the space” and puts hands on the head (FALSE combination!). Therefore, other players should put both hands down in the sky.
Step 3: Other players must listen very carefully to what the leader says and do the correct move. If they are tricked by the leader, they lose.
Step 4: The game continues until there’s only one player left.
The game is not that simple as it may sound! The entire aim of the game is to have players constantly alert and active.
