Aim of the Game
The aim of the Cone Game is to partner up and challenge your reaction speed. Your goal is to grab the cone before your partner does once it is called.
Group Size and Age
Cone Game is fun for all ages. It works best when it is played in groups with odd numbers. You will need one person to be the director and everyone else will be paired up into partners.
Preparation and Needed Materials
Small pylon cones (one cone for each pair of partners). Instead of the cones, you can use bottles.
How To Play the Cone Game
Are you ready to play Cone Game? Make sure everyone is dressed in comfortable clothing and shoes because they will be moving a lot. We recommend wearing the same clothing you would for working out. Now that you’re ready, here is everything you need to know for a successful round of Cone Game:
Step 1: Decide which member of the group is going to be the director and have everyone else get into pairs of partners.
Step 2: Line up all of the cones (bottles), leaving enough space between them for players to move around comfortably without the worry of hitting whoever is next to them.
Step 3: Mark the line on each side of the cones where the players have to stay behind. You can use the tape for that although it is not necessary.
Step 4: Each set of partners will now go to their pylon and position themselves across from one another.
Step 5: Once everyone is ready each player will get into a squatting position.
Step 6: The director will then start calling out words (all parts of the body) and in any order, and the players will then have to touch what they hear as quickly as possible while staying in their position. For example, they will call out words like:
- head,
- knees,
- toes.
Step 7: This will go on until the director calls out the word cone. When the players hear the word cone they will attempt to grab the cone in front of them before their partner does. If you false start, the opposite player wins the point.
Cone Game is a fun way to see how fast your reaction speed really is.
